STAFF APPRECIATION
For the PTO to be effective and truly representative of the school, it is essential to have involvement from as many families as possible.
We encourage every parent, grandparent, uncle, aunt, family friend that is part of an Emerson student's life to get involved. And, there are many different ways to help:

Cut and Count Box Tops

Help with Popcorn Fridays

Bake for/assist with our bake sale

Help clean up the grounds/gardens at Fall or Spring Beautification Day
-
Provide a dish, snack, beverage for a Staff Appreciation Luncheon
-
Help serve dinner at Science Night, Multicultural Night, etc.
-
Assist our librarian with setting up, staffing the check-out, and breaking down the Scholastic book sale fundraiser for the library.

Help run a game/station at Family Fun Night

Decorate for the School Dance
-
Grill/Serve hotdogs and veggie burgers for our end of year picnic
The PTO financially supports a broad range of activities and projects at Emerson, including field trips, building and grounds improvements, equipment and supply purchases, and community building events, such as Family Fun Night and the School Dance. In addition, the PTO provides grants to support teacher/staff projects.

Square 1 Art - Proceeds from this fundraiser, 33% of the purchase price, go directly to supporting social and academic programs sponsored by the Emerson PTO.
The PTO sponsors luncheons for the Emerson staff throughout the year.
The PTO also provides grants and other financial assistance to staff to assist with classroom projects, purchase supplies, and field trips.
Past staff grants have provided funds for:

"Take a Break" sensory boxes

the outdoor stage;

sand toys and storage bin;
-
kids snow shovels;
-
student attendance at UW Engineering Expo;

rainbow storage carts for handwriting curriculum;

recorders to start a recorder music program;

field trip to Chazen art museum;

costume accessories for "Piggy Opera";

student participation in Terrace Town

Major staff grants requests (generally more than $100) should be submitted to Principal Kose at least two weeks prior to the October PTO meeting and the February PTO meeting.
Minor staff grants (under $100) can be considered any time.
